Citi is said to be [cutting senior bankers in Q3.] Maybe it will be the only one? Given all the talk about announced deals that have yet to come to fruition, cuts may have been cancelled in 2025. Please post here if you suspect or know otherwise…(Citi said to be contemplating August cuts amidst queries on hiring strategy)
Tariffs are stabilizing and our "new normal"s are becoming apparent. Investor confidence is returning.
Relax…
Expect Barclays to be cutting again in time for q3 results….2years into a 3 year strategic plan, masking great results with headcount reduction in traditional office locations, greater hiring in low-cost locations…and paying off fine after fine after fine for bad behaviours. Poor culture.
HSBC and UBS both still have costs to come out too. HSBC’s closure of ECM/M&A is “ongoing”. UBS is saying today that another $900m to come out across the bank before the end of the year
Again - what is the purpose of working so much, with so much stress about cuts etc., when a well-managed trust fund can yield $300k to $400k? Throw in credit arrangements for houses, boats, whatever, and you have all you need.
I feel like most people try WAY too hard on the consumption front. As long as you can scale down to a solid ~$20k/month fixed expenses, a good life is accessible to anyone.
Anyone!
