Am I alone in this? I’m in London, on a fixed rate but due to remortgage in August. I’m starting to feel that my job is not secure and that my costs are about to skyrocket
We’re the only major market I know of in the entire world that doesn’t have long-term fixed rate mortgages (20+ years). Which is weird because I think the first bank that bothers to introduce them would probably sweep the market
The only answer as to “why” is that US banks have the whole Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac thing that we don’t here. Either that or our retail banks are fundamentally mis-regulated.
