There has been no ‘real’ hiring in Asset Management for the last ~20 months and don’t expect that to change. AI can now do accounting and financial modelling better and faster than people - although no forecasting - and is being implemented not just with CFOs, but with PMs and bankers in Investment Management and Corporate Finance. AI cannot replace Analyst, but you need significantly less of everything. So if you are looking for a job now, what to do? Retrain? To what? There is a reason why you studied finance instead of biology. AI is shrinking everything very fast. It is a very scary situation. Is it just my experience or are things not that bad? What kind of a job can an analyst do in today’s environment? Are analysts the new manufacturing workers, to be discarded as collateral damage? If you need to work, what can you do? Very frustrating.
