Good luck to this years’ intern cohort

Get ready to have AI stuffed down your throat like never before!

Your conversion opportunities will not primarily be related to your performance or your networking, but your ability to act like an “AI enabled” individual.

Basically just LARP as a LinkedIn influencer for those two months and hope your boss buys the act. If not, tough luck.

This would be funny… If it wasn’t true.

That being said, if you’re a bit of a charlatan, you have a hell of a next few years ahead of you in this job market. HR departments will be salivating over your CV like a hungry tiger in a supermarket.

I guess that applies to interns too. Mountebanks only

Sadly they’d much rather get interns to churn out twice the amount of work with AI than reduce their already insane working hours.

In an ideal world AI could be used to easily hand off work from one team in London to their New York counterparts as they clock off, then to Singapore, etc.

I guess the idea is that - you’re getting paid to put in a certain amount of effort, to work a certain amount of hours.

Efficiency gains exist to make your working hours more productive. Not to reduce them, to increase your output.

Really the true solution would be to increase pay to reflect higher output, but lol, lmao even. Especially given how much AI support costs… Claude especially.

Which makes sense. Otherwise everyone would sprint to do their “allocated” work and sign off before lunchtime if they had the option.

Wait, that actually seems like a much better system. Why don’t we do this???

Is this a serious question?

If so, because it’s too rigid. If your career was tied into “make one powerpoint a day from scratch”, you would never do anything else, you couldn’t justify a pay rise. You couldn’t reallllllly justify a promotion. And it would be impossible for a company to make use of your abilities outside of your specific brief
