Lots of expat and local talent left HK for Dubai and Singapore, and UK.
Hong Kong wants to attract foreigners back with the government’s Talent Engage program. Who’s interested?

What’s the upside? Apart from tax
Presumably the fact that you can move with a promotion and/or way more money if the labour market is that tight
Exactly. Probably why the government needs to have a campaign to attract foreign talent. More opportunities exist in other markets for further career growth.
HK is already saturated with so many foreign talents
. have seen in FO/BO/MO all mixed folks. At least for sure in BO. when a skilled person (foreign talent ) is sponsored into the job market, their dependent also gets an entry. 1+1
Not easy to get a job there now unless you speak the language though
My friends that live there have no plans to leave. Low tax, very low crime, decent weather and nicely located for weekend trips to sandy beaches.
Milan seems appealing too, for similar reasons (although I’m sure HK is safer).
Why did they left HK? What did drive them away?
Covid policies. When an entire world was done with covid, in HK they were considering a full scale lockdown. Around 200k people left within 3 weeks based on those rumours and most never came back.
Mainlanders started to move in, but job market was crap. Now, job market appears to be even nore though for expats. Very few roles that wouldn’t require Mandarin.
Plus one, been here 8 years now
