Simple enough. Some people say $1m, some people say $5m, some people say $50m. What’s yours?
Personally I think $3m to $5m and an average-paying job I enjoy is enough. I’m happy to out at that point and focus on family

50p and a twix
What is “out” number?
The amount of money you are comfortable to retire with?
PS: Retire is too strong of a word. Maybe, the number you’d stop having to have a full time job would make more sense.
Or do a job you’d actually like without the inevitably low salaries of that job…
This is a dated concept from a halcyon time when inflation was 2% and credit cockroaches weren’t about to blow a hole in everything
Interesting observation in theFT today - that the number will always take another five years’ work and be more than can be spent in retirement anyway.
