Wife's career being destroyed by micromanaging boss

My wife has an ESG job in a bank. She used to absolutely love the work. It felt like she was making a real difference, the work life balance was great, her colleagues loved each other. She’d regularly pull extra hours not because she was forced to but because she loved it.

Then her boss retired.

A new person was brought in, from a big name no less, and she has systematically eradicated any kind of joy or excitement that she felt while working in that team. Every decision triple and quadruple checked until mind numbingly passable. In every conversation, they had to have the last word, no exceptions. Worst of all, this person barely does any work and even sends obviously AI generated messages without even taking out the em dashes! It’s insane how much this woman is coasting, especially since we know she’s earning almost 4x what my wife is in salary alone.

I’m not sure there’s anything to be done except hope that this woman is found out for the incompetent fraud she is… just be careful not to get too attached to one job.

Never last is part and parcel with good things. She should look for another job and hope the odds work in her favour once more.

Sounds like a nightmare. Unfortunately corporate jobs are filled with people who love sending AI crap and who have minimal creativity and a low propensity for joy

AI worship and micromanagement are two very good signs that a company/industry is on its deathbed - she needs a new job ASAP
