Are Insight experiences worth it?

I’m having a debate with my undergraduate student daughter. She has been accepted on multiple insight days / work experiences. Deloitte, Morgan Stanley, Blick Rothenberg and today UBS. She also has mentorships from a couple of people working in banks. She also has virtual experience in finance and investments. Do you think her application will stand out ? She says they are all pretty similar and don’t mean anything at this stage. It’s all about results. She is about to apply for Spring Weeks in 26 and I think it’s got to be worth something.

Yes. The insight days should help. You usually need the insight days to get a spring internship, and you need the spring internship to get the summer internship and the summer internship to get the graduate job. I think Goldman Sachs stopped doing spring internships and effectively only offers insight days, so they count for something.

Sounds like she is making good progress. Would advise going to as many as is possible to get perspective which could help her stand out in what will be an incredibly competitive process.

They’re definitely a great thing to have but I’d say beware how she touts it in her CV. I see a lot of LinkedIns from people that put down the insight day and make it look like an internship. If you’re caught doing that, which you probably will, you’ll look like a fool when applying for serious internships
