Iranian quants are the best in the world

It’s now clear that Iran was horribly underestimated. As anyone who knows Iran well will tell you, this was always inevitable. Iran has some of the world’s top engineers and top quants. This is the country that produced Rama Cont, the math professor at Imperial, and two gold medalists at last year’s math Olympiad. Iran offers one of the world’s top mathematical and engineering educations. Banks and hedge funds made a mistake focusing on hiring from MIT. They should’ve gone for Sharif University of Technology, University of Tehran, and Amirkabir University of Technology. My two cents.

It’s a painful irony that a nation known for its exceptional mathematicians is also employing that same expertise to operate a “machinery of death.” While we take pride in Iran’s academic achievements, we must not overlook the fact that the regime has mastered the art of state-sponsored terror.

One could say the same about many of the participants in this conflict.

Well Technically US is a machinery for death , chaos and disruption for power hunger as well. But no one highlights it as such.

What media shows about Iran isn’t reliable just as media doesn’t show the unreliable side of US, until people start to see with self reasoning.

Maybe if the petrodollar is non-existential (hypothetically  ) , next MIT Equivalent will be in Iran . :alien:

I would like to add to these thoughts and suggest that the ideal quant is probably at the intersection of Iran and France. I am all for the French Iranian mathematicians of the world

Top quants in Europe are Russian these days, not French. Get with the program.

Disagree. Everybody is lousy at quants these days. It is even hard to say, who is worse. That’s why there’s no progress, no high tech, and as a result we will have a lot more situations like the one between the US and Uran all over the world.

So more quants, less war?

Quants do not beget neither progress nor high tech. At best, efficiency.

Sweet little sweaty nerds pushing pencils are generally irrelevant to the progress of the world, which is entirely romantic-artistic-fatalistic driven.

Do I look like a sweet sweaty nerd? The world has moved on

The world may have moved on, but the blood cannot be forgotten, and truth is not a changing thing.

As a lion cub raised in your home is a priest of doom regardless of your love for it (Aeschylus spoke of this), the world is driven on the wheels of the GREAT, who are simply suppressed in our awful time by bureaucrats, losers, pencil-pushers, etc.

They will return to provide their Judgement, and we will all suffer for it…

No, more war and less high-tech. The problem is there is no apparent horde to support or to lead.
