Best career in banking and finance for introverts?

I started my career in banking and, contrary to the norm, my most fond days were as an first year analyst. The work was terrible, but it was simple and I had the camaraderie of my fellow analysts to help me through the day. (This is hindsight talking, of course)

I’ve come to find that I simply don’t like networking or politicking, which makes my banking career pretty much terminal. I like the juniors that I manage, but I don’t like being responsible for them. As my personal life has progressed, I’ve realized work has burned out my social battery, and I’d like to change my career to prioritize that.

What other careers are out there for me right now? Is there something where I can directly apply the skills I’ve learned in a more isolated, sustainable environment, or will I need to retrain?

Equity research seems like a good possible option. If I were to reskill, perhaps I’d become an engineer. What other careers am I missing?

Trading or private banking/wealth management specialist

This is phenomenally bad.

OP - tech is your only real option if you really want to avoid people for long periods of time. Or quant-y stuff but you have to be reaaaaaaal good to have that right
