What exactly is a 'good work life balance' in banking?

I spoke to someone who used to be an analyst at Goldman Sachs that said they were in a really nice team and had a great work life balance. It turns out, she was regularly working 12 hour days from 9am to 9pm…

Is that really what a good work life balance in banking is like? Or is that just a Goldman Sachs problem :upside_down_face:

I do believe this to be job specific :eye:

Bank of America has the same. if you don’t take on more work voluntarily and work extra hour ie early in and late out, you are not working enough :-(. I am afraid its same for most banks.

Considering the fact that you can easily earn like $5k a month working remotely in a semi-joke job, I don’t understand why more people aren’t doing that from Thailand, Eastern Europe, or wherever else lol

What are these jobs exactly? I have my suspicions about the honeyed land of remote chakra alignments and whatever else supposedly earns this money

I think these digital nomad type jobs are not only reducing, with more people being called into the office, but the digital nomads themselves are growing tired of having no community, having to solve novel logistics problems in unfamiliar places etc…There will also be the fear of AI taking your job if you don’t turn up…

There are plenty of remote roles but to be fair they are not in banking. If you do want to work in a smaller firm, there are lot of opportunities. None of the people I know work 5 days in the office. We have one life only.
