Inexorable back to the office insistence. Resist or succomb?

I prefer being in the office but what Ive found is that firms have downsized their office space/desk availability. You have to book a desk weeks in advance to even get in. Have a look at how many firms are reducing/have already reduced their office space. HSBC moving out of Canary Wharf springs to mind. Others are in the same process. So they want you back but theres no-where to sit?? What am I missing here…

Half of UK companies want staff back in the office full-time. Good luck to them suckers
My position: If travel and meal costs aren’t covered by company, I won’t go in.

Some managers come to the office to get time away from partners, kids,
neighbours. When in office they feel lonely & isolated, they expect others to join them. I think they should consider a shared workspace rather than asking others to come in.

There is often somewhere to sit. It is just nowhere near the people in your team

Almost half of UK companies can do one tbh
