I saw an analyst eating at her desk. It was just a sandwich, nothing intrusive or smelling, but it seems easy to imagine this spiraling. Should I have a word with her about separating work areas from eating areas in case she decides on something more olfactorally insulting in the future?
Lunch should be thoroughly enjoyed as a point of principle. You should at all times maximise your pleasure in it - isolating yourself from sterile “fluorescent” light, the noises of keyboard etc. ideally a good employer offers you a greenhouse space during winter but you should always eat lunch in the free air too, during summer months.
You should chastise her for rushing such an important event, if anything.
The correct way is to order the most smelly, excellent tasting food; eat a couple a bytes at your desk then get pulled away for that important meeting, leaving it open for everyone else to smell
