Everyone talks about 0.1 degree temperature increases and whatever else, and obviously that’s imperceptible. Crop failures or whatever else, but food is basically all the same price relative to itself as ever. What crop failures? Where is the starvation?
We have more solar panels and windmills now, I guess. That counts - but humans built it. It’s no evidence of a change, it’s evidence of our actions.
It sounds funny but the Swiss cover their snow is white sheet in summer to prevent it from melting . They didn’t do that before in 80s or 90s summer.
Look at nature calamities or other living beings for climate change impact. Humans can always regulate their environment/ circumstances with money to not feel the “HEAT”.
Hand-waving observations like “food is basically all the same price relative to itself as ever” – if my understanding of the sentence is correct – are obviously not true, albeit one might argue that the food price inflation of the last few years is entirely due to other factors, but then… we have already started with a false statement.
So, before discussing about evidence of the crisis*, are we sure that we are able to present counterfactual data to decades of research, or make any attempt of debunking or circumscribing that research?
Because if it’s a “people have had enough of experts” kind of thread, I’d like to say: I don’t blindly trust the experts but even less the incompetents.
*Some crises do not happen overnight and by the time we reach a point where everybody agree that we have a climate crisis, I’m afraid it’s a bit late.
Moreso than global warming i think the deliberate destruction of the natural world is abhorrent. The plague of palm oil farming alone is ruining natural habitats and literally exterminating entire species (maybe even ones we don’t even know exist).
With all this talk of war, I don’t think we need to worry about global warming destroying the earth. We’re doing a pretty damn good job of it ourselves.
100% agree. For all the talk about ozone layers and global temperatures, nothing really hurts to see as much as the destruction of our natural environments, the pollution of our rivers and seas.
Ironically we’re putting much more money into solving the former than the latter. Wonder why.
